Welcome to the Grand Canyon. Located in the southwest part of the United States in the state of Arizona, the Grand Canyon is 277 miles long and up to one mile deep. It was created by the Colorado River millions of years ago. Long before European settlers saw the canyon, it was inhabited by Indians who built homes in the canyon. (3 pages)
