She is a beautiful reminder of the importance of political liberty and of friendship between countries. This EL Civics history and government lesson will take you on a guided tour of this historic landmark. Where is the Statue of Liberty?

  • The Statue of Liberty is in New York Harbor on a small island called Liberty Island.


  • The wall that surrounds the statue is shaped like a star.

 

Ferry Boats for Statue of Liberty Tour

How do people get to Liberty Island?

  • They ride ferry boats to the island. Tourists can buy ferry tickets at Battery Park.


  • In this photo, you can see the ferries in the water.


  • There is no fee to enter the Statue of Liberty.
